Members come both from the Transcona suburb and from farms east of the city (Dugald and Springfield area), so the church blends suburban and rural Manitoba life.

ABOUT THE LOCATION
Transcona is a growing, working-class-rooted railway suburb of about 43,000 on Winnipeg's eastern edge that still feels like a small town.
-
A railway town. The Grand Trunk Pacific bought 800 acres east of Winnipeg in 1908 for repair shops; the name joins “Transcontinental” and “Strathcona.” The CN shops opened in 1913 and CN is still a major employer.
Its own city until 1972. Transcona became a city in 1961 (13,000 people) and joined Winnipeg in the 1972 amalgamation. Residents still speak of it as a place apart, with a strong small-town, know-your-neighbour identity.
Old and new side by side. Older streets near Regent Ave. and the church sit beside newer subdivisions; Kildonan Place mall, Kilcona Park, the Transcona Trail and the Transcona Museum anchor community life.
Mixed and changing. The church describes the surrounding community as ethnically mixed, while the congregation is about 95% Caucasian. The neighbourhood's diversity is wider than the pews.
Rural neighbours. Many members drive in from farms and acreages east of the Perimeter, so ministry stretches into the rural municipalities beyond the city.
-
Transcona Food Security Network: monthly coordination with the Transcona Food Bank and the Family Resource Centre on Plessis.
Gifts of Grace: volunteers make 500 sandwiches every five weeks for Main Street Project's van patrol.
Peg City Day Camps: affordable summer childcare for ages 6–12, with government funding; week one pairs with VBS.
Shared space: the Reformed Christian Church of God, Throne of Grace worships in the building before the 10 a.m. service; Calvin Christian School, and community groups rent the fellowship hall.
Ecumenical ties: a combined outdoor service at the Hi Neighbour Festival, a seniors' bowling group at Chateau Lanes, and shared ministry with Covenant CRC in northeast Winnipeg.
-
Young families and new homeowners are moving in, while the congregation skews older. VBS, day camp and the playgroup are natural bridges to them.
About one in seven neighbours is Indigenous, and the church notes it is weakly representative of local ethnic diversity. Learning to welcome across culture is an open frontier.
A small-town identity rewards a pastor who is visible locally: at the festival, the food network and community events.ription
Life In Winnipeg
Winnipeg (about 750,000) offers the Royal Winnipeg Ballet, the Winnipeg Symphony, the Canadian Museum for Human Rights, The Forks, the Jets and the Blue Bombers. Birds Hill Provincial Park is about 20 minutes away, and Whiteshell Provincial Park and Lake Winnipeg are within easy reach. Winters are cold but predictable, and the city is built for them.
